Juniper Paddington - Cafe branding

JUNIPER PADDINGTON

CLIENT

Juniper Paddington

CHALLENGE

Juniper approached us with the task of creating a logo design and subsequent brand identity which fit the aesthetic of the surrounding community neighbourhood. Juniper is situated in the centre of an area called ‘5 Ways Paddington’, a hub of quaint and classic pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes which aim not to disturb the historic look of the area. At the intersection there is a variety of 19th- and 20th-century buildings, including the Royal Hotel (1888), built in a mixture of classical and Vistorian styles.

The task taken on by Jesse Funk Design was to create a classic and timeless yet clean and minimal identity to compliment the aesthetic of the area. The final design adopts a clean and tracked out sans-serif typeface with a trace of art deco shape and curvature. The cafe was even used as a location on a Witchery fashion shoot where the logo can be seen to be casting a shadow on the model in the image below.
